Welcome!

The Association of Digital Art and Media (ADAM) welcomes you. ADAM is dedicated to the exploration of digital art - whether your thing is Photoshop, Flash, Maya, or even Java, C++, or PHP, ADAM is the place for you.

The Association of Digital Art and Media not only helps students explore new areas of digital art, but also provides students with an opportunity to apply his/her own expertise in group projects. ADAM puts on tutorials throughout the year which provide an introduction to some area of digital art. These tutorials are open to the public and are intended to give students a foothold in some digital medium, from where a student can continue to learn.

Also, the Association of Digital Art and Media hosts experimental projects which are geared towards those students who already specialize in some area of digital art. These projects are voluntary for members and give members a chance to work on a team. ADAM strives to create unique projects that represent the original ideas of ADAM members. In the past these projets have included an animated short film, and an original video game concept.

With the information on this website you can learn all about ADAM, past and present. You can find out more in-depth information about ADAM in the ABOUT section. Wii-Mation Image

Wii-Mation:  Ever see athletes jumping around with a bunch of white balls taped to their body? If so then you probably know the athletes were doing a motion capture project where some video game designers needed real-world motion information. Wouldn't it be cool if you could do that at home? Sure, but it would probably cost $100,000 to do it. Not any more!

This semester ADAM is working on its own low-cost 3D motion capture system. How you ask? Nintendo Wii remotes. These remotes aren't just simple video game controllers - they have advanced technologies in them that can be used to capture motion. Therefore, ADAM is working on a system that interfaces Wii remotes with the open source 3D program Blender. It is intentioned that a user will be able to strap Wii remotes to his/her body and then proceed to control a model in Blender. Not only will this make it much easier to animate complex scenes with humanoid models, but you basically have a motion capture studio in your own home for less than $1000.

If you want to find out more about this project, go to the PROJECTS page and have a look. ADAM will be updating that page with progress reports as this system unfolds. Also, if you would like to be a part of this project you can always become an ADAM member and help us acheive this revolutionary goal.
